Abstract
The content of epoxidised soybean oil (ESBO) was determined by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and 1,4-dimethoxybenzene as an internal standard. The detection limit of ESBO in plastic samples was 0.08 §·. The level of ESBO in PVC wrap film ranged from 6.84 to 10.7%, with a mean of 8.56%, and that in PVC gasket ranged from n.d. to 28.2%, with a mean of 6.63%. The amounts of ESBO contained in the gaskets of imported goods were usually significantly higher than those of domestic goods. The quantification of ESBO in food packaging ingredients and gaskets using NMR proved to be a simple and quick analysis method.
